BOND PROCESS
IMPROVEMENT BONDING
County and City Departments may require a Bond be posted for various permits or improvements. After the plan check process has been completed and the plans are approved, the next step is execution of the improvement bonds and agreements process.
- The initial bonds and agreement package is derived from a cost estimate or bond worksheet.
- Improvement Agreement forms need to be completed for execution.
- The bonds and agreement package is reviewed for completeness, if the package is deficient and not complete, it is returned for further completion.
- The completed package is transmitted to counsel for review. If corrections are required then the package is returned for correction. If approved then the permit can be released unless the package is required to be sent to another division for additional processing.
- Bonding for maps may require Board of Supervisor or City Council processing in addition to the above requirements.
BOND RELEASE
Upon obtaining permit final or receiving a Notice of Completion for the completed improvements including all required inspections, then the bond amount may be reduced. If a maintenance agreement is required then the full bond release can be completed upon completion of the maintenance agreement.
NOTE: This is a general overview of the bond process. Additional requirements may be required for each county or city and improvement bond type.
